This week, just a couple of quick updates:
First, Fat Bear Week is at an end, and bear number 747 (aka “Bear Force One”) has taken top honors. The contest was not without controversy, however. About an hour after I posted my article about it, the folks at Explore.org announced that — and I’m not making this up — hackers had hijacked the voting in Sunday’s round, using bots to stuff the electronic ballot box. Bears all over Alaska were heard chanting “Stop the steal,” as IT folks scrambled to undo the damage of this shocking scandal. Luckily, they were indeed able to identify and discard the fraudulent votes and restore the honor and dignity of this most sacred tradition.
Second, In case you missed it, the unremarkable brain was recently featured on the wildly popular Fitness Confidential Podcast! In the episode, Anna Vocino, author of the Eat Happy series of cookbooks and founder of Eat Happy Kitchen, reads from my LowCarbUSA recap point-by-point and discusses it with host/author/filmmaker/America’s Angriest Trainer Vinnie Tortorich.
Vinnie is a wildly original and thoughtful guy, and he’s super-passionate about helping people take back their health from the profit-driven companies that are “stealing our good intentions.” That said, he drops the F-bomb about twenty times in the first 5 minutes of the episode, so if you do decide to listen, consider this your NSFW, not-so-kid-friendly, “Explicit Material” warning.
To all the fellow NSNG’ers who have subscribed to this newsletter after hearing about it on the show, welcome! I hope you find some value here, even if it’s only entertainment value. And if you do, please consider sharing the unremarkable brain on your socials! Here’s a shiny red button:
To celebrate this huge milestone for this little blog, I’m releasing my interview with Vinnie as a podcast episode! Last year, Vinnie was kind enough to chat with me for my “Healthy Happy Hour” YouTube series. People really loved it at the time, and have been asking me to put it out as an audio podcast for a while now. Well, here it is. As a subscriber you get early access, but it will soon be on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, or wherever you get your pod on.
Thank you, folks, for being part of this community. More to come soon!
